Smoke from forest fires on the mainland blanketed Greater Victoria and Vancouver Island in the first week or two of August. The all time record for consecutive dry days, 52 days, was exceeded by two days as well by 13 August, 2017.

Downtown Victoria, BC is shrouded in smoke (seen from Mount Douglas Park).

Trial Island is barely visible from Mount Douglas Park.
