HadCRUT4 Temperature Spiral

The temperature spiral from Ed Hawkins is a great tool for communicating what we know about climate change. However, I couldn't abide the straight line segments connecting the monthly average values or the disappearing zero line. So I made my own, inspired by (another awesome) Ed. Pile on the criticism or even better, make your own and let me know.

HadCRUT4 monthly globally averaged temperature time series plotted on a polar plot with months connected by linearly interpolated arcs. The temperatures have been set to a baseline of 1850 to 1900 instead of the 1960 to 1991 baseline as supplied. I made this with IDL.

I made an mp4 file as well.
